We are thrilled to announce the launch of Hijack Communications, a dynamic new venture dedicated to strategic communications, which builds on and compliments our existing suite of digital design and marketing products and services such as Branding, Website design, digital design and now AI.
Our inaugural project has been an exciting collaboration with Space South Central and the University of Portsmouth, where we have developed a comprehensive communications plan and a six-month content calendar for an innovative CPD course aimed at addressing skills shortages in the UK space sector.
Space South Central, funded by the UK Space Agency, represents the vibrant space industry across Hampshire, Surrey, and the Isle of Wight. As the largest space cluster in the UK, Space South Central is committed to fostering innovation, collaboration, investment, and growth. It champions over 130 space-related businesses and three world-class universities (Portsmouth, Southampton and Surrey) nationally and internationally.
Our project focuses on promoting the ‘Securing the future of space: Space Software and Data/AI CPD programme’, one of five new projects, worth £2.1m, announced by UK Space Agency earlier this year. This programme is designed to bridge the skills gap in software, data, and artificial intelligence (AI) within the space sector. It aims to equip mid-career professionals with the expertise needed to strategically navigate the rapidly changing fields of AI and data-science.
Working closely with the project leadership team to understand their requirements, pressure points and success factors, we have created a multi-channel communications strategy. This includes press releases, media relations, engaging blogs, strategic social media content, video interviews with course leaders and participants, and newsletter articles. Over the past three months, this content has been disseminated to key stakeholders and audiences, resulting in significant communications successes and project milestones met.
Our efforts have garnered media coverage in regional outlets and trade press including Portsmouth News, That’s Solent TV, The Business Magazine, and IM3. These achievements demonstrate our ability to deliver impactful and authoritative communications that have help to drive project engagement and potential customer leads for future course cohorts.
A monthly blog series has been created on the University of Portsmouth’s blog platform. We identified key themes and topics related to the course programme to highlight topical issues that would be of interest to the space sector and delegates interested in joining the course. In close collaboration with the subject matter leads of each course component, each blog has been created, edited, proofread and published. Check out the first two blogs:

The vital role of embedded control systems in the space sector
As with all good communication plans, all of our content has been amplified and shared across Space South Central’s social media channels, as well as the social media accounts of the 3 university partners. We’ve seen really good engagement with the content and have lots more exciting and engaging stories, blogs, media announcements and videos to come over the next few months.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make our impact in the world of strategic communications with Hijack Communications.
